What we stand for

Patient focused health and social care. We are committed to the values of the NHS in providing universal healthcare for all. We want patients to have greater control and involvement in decisions about their health and social care.   And we believe that patient focussed information and choice should be at the heart of driving change in the National Health and Social Care systems.

Prevention over cure.  It makes better medical and economic sense to prevent illness rather than spend more on treatment later. Public health and preventive medicine are too often seen as a low priority.  Tackling the three main public health epidemics of the 21st century – smoking, alcohol misuse and obesity –  would deliver huge health benefits across society.

Improving quality and performance.  In a context where public spending will be under severe pressure, the NHS will need to become more productive.  A  fundamental  part of this is about improving  the management of one of the most complex people based organisations in the world.

Competition improves patient care. Competition between  different  providers helps improve standards of care  for patients.  We believe that both private sector companies and third sector providers can play a key role in  delivering what patients want from a modern National Health Service.
