The Inaugural John Creaney Memorial Lecture
Lord Carlile of Berriew QC is the Vice-Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary War Crimes Group (2000-), and the Victims of Terror Group (2007-). He is Chairman of the Competition Appeals Tribunal (2006-). He was raised to the peerage in 1999 and was previously Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for Montgomery. He is also a Deputy High Court Judge.
John Creaney QC (1933-2008) was one of the most important figures in the legal system of Northern Ireland during the past four decades, sercing as a Senior Prosecuting Counsel from 1978 until his death. His unique career spanned the gamut of provincial and international terrorism - from the Malvern Street murder of 1966 to Ulster's first Al Qaeda trial in 2005.
