Political Philosophy
Although Policy Exchange is proud of its reputation as one of the few think tanks on the centre-right to concentrate on original research, we are also interested in the broader political ideas that underpin specific policies. As such, we have published works of philosophical nature in our Foundations series, and will continue to do so.
Compassionate Conservatism, by Jesse Norman and Janan Ganesh, is an attempt to shape a guiding philosophy for modern conservatives. It offers a vision of a 'connected' society, an idea which moves beyond the individualist and paternalist traditions in conservative thought. Our forthcoming report in the series is Science v Superstition: the case for a new scientific enlightenment, a collection of essays which seeks to understand how we came to distrust scientific progress, the harm it has caused us and how we can leave this fear behind.
