International
Policy Exchange does not restrict itself to domestic policy issues. In addition to our extensive work on terrorism and security, we have published work on international affairs more generally.
Lion Cubs cited African success stories such as Botswana and Tanzania to argue that, while prophesies of an African Renaissance were optimistic, the popular perception of an entirely failing continent is inaccurate. The Perfect Union?, edited by Roger Gough and Anna Reid with a foreword by Rt Hon Chris Patten, examines how the accession of central and eastern European countries will affect the European Union.
Much of our work on other policy areas also uses international comparisons to identify models to emulate and avoid. Bigger Better Faster More, for example, looked at planning policies in countries such as Ireland and Australia, while Big Bang Localism compared Britain's highly centralised state with more devolved systems elsewhere.
